At last, common sense prevails!

Blair has finally had a motion defeated in the
House. A defeat against spin, and a win for common sense.

The idea of imprisoning someone without charge, purely on a whim/hunch/probability, is not wanted in a supposed democratic country: this is Britain, not some Police State or banana Republic.

As for The Sun "naming and shaming" the MP's who voted against Blair, and calling them "traitors" then all I can say is this: Rebekah Wade, if this motion that your paper supported so much was actually Law when Walter Wolfgang heckled at the Labour Party conference, then subsequent ejected and detained under the Terrorism Act, then he would most probably be in jail now. You may remember that your paper found Mr Wolfgang's treatment particulary aborrant.

Or have you forgotten?
