Prestigious!

Watched quite possibly the best film of the year last night (despite what I wrote in an earlier post): The Prestige is just fantastic... a superb piece of cinema from Chris Nolan, ably abetted by his brother Jonathan and wife Emma Thomas).

I've not read the original novel by Christopher Priest, so cannot vouch for authenticity, but the multi-strand storyline, though complicated never felt confusing; a great cast - Christian Bale, Hugh Jackman and Michael Caine, with a surprising turn from David Bowie as Nicolai Tesla and Scarlett Johansson who, despite press reports, doesn't mangle an English accent: it's not perfect, but then we're not talking Dyke van Dyke bad either, eh Mary Poppins?

A thoroughly recommended film, which is both mainstream and sf with enough twists and turns, that like it's subject matter of magic will leave you spellbound and wonder how many times Chris Nolan has pulled the old sleight-of-hand trick.
